An Easy Knot to Tie Off Your Antenna, The Clove Hitch

Many years ago when I was a boy scout, one of the first knots we learned was the Clove Hitch. Even though this knot is easy to tie, it has many uses. One application for Amateur Radio is tying antennas and masts.

First loop the rope around.
Cross over the top of the rope.
Bring the rope under.
Bring the rope through were you crossed over.
Tighten down the knot. When properly done this knot looks like a X.
This knot is strong and easy to tie.
